"JUNE" a Poem in Memoriam by Norman Mc Namara

June 1974

“JUNE”

(A poem in Memory of June K. Berg)

By: Norman “Norrms” Mc Namara* – 2012

---

“October 23rd was the awful Day,

When the Angels came, and took you away,

All through your life you cared for others,

A wonderful wife and loving mother,

... You looked to the Lord every day,

Asking Questions, as you prayed,

You grew up on a Dairy Farm,

The hard work never did you any harm,

It’s been four years, since you passed away,

Yet I hear your laughter every day,

You shared your love to all around

Your warmth and care to all did abound

We will meet again, of that I am sure

The Worlds now one less of one so pure!"

Note:  Norman "Norrms" Mc Namara is a Poet and a Writer and a friend from Torbay, Devon in the UK. Norm is also a tireless Crusader and advocate for awareness and for the finding a cure for the major Dementia producing diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Lewy Body Disease. I have three books in my Alzheimer’s reference library authored by “Norms”…”Silent Voice’s “My Battle With Alzheimer’s Rages On”, “More Than Words, Poems by an Alzheimer’s Sufferer” and “Me and My Alzheimer’s.” All books are on Kindle. Norms was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s at age 52. This diagnosis has since been modified to “Lewy Body type dementia disease”, the second most common dementia producing disease immediately behind Alzheimer’s. Norms is a member of the newly formed “Torbay Dementia Action Alliance” in his hometown of Torbay. Their goal is to make Torbay the first "Dementia Friendly" city in the world!  In my opinion, Norrms has become the single loudest and most effective voice in the UK  today in the promotion of awareness for the major Dementia producing diseases and their problems. At the start of the "Dementia 2012 Conference" on March 26, 2012 at the Hotel Russell in central London, British Prime Minister David Cameron held a pre-conference private meeting with select members of he Alzheimer's Society. It was at this private meeting in the Hotel Russell, that Norrms was seated immediately on the left side of the Prime Minister during the entire course of this meeting. The Prime Minister later addressed the general assembly of the conference in which he stated his personal commitment to improving the lives of people affected by dementia.

 (June's Passing)

After battling Alzheimer's for almost 11 years, an exhausted June was finally called home by God on October 23rd, 2008. Her funeral notice as published in the Minneapolis Star in October 2008 can be seen on this website under the "In Memoriam" label - or simply click on:

For the story of June’s favorite home at 6025 Gardena Lane and the poem I wrote about this home during a day of deep sadness, click on the below link. This home was June’s home for almost 40 years. It was constructed shortly after the previous home was severely damaged in a tornado. 6025 Gardena Lane was the first home the June participated in the selection and purchase of a lot on a small hill, helped with the design of the home and watched it being constructed. 6025 Gardena Lane had a special place in June's heart. as it does mine:
