June and Stan

 (June and Stan - 2002 - "50th" Wedding  - "Golden" - Anniversary - Year)

(June's 6th Year of Alzheimer's - But Doing Well)

---

June, it is now over 60 years since you and I first met on a bright spring day, a Tuesday the 22nd of May in 1951. We were both 23 years of age. I was home on leave from the Army. My father Tom introduced us at a small cafe in Barron. Wisconsin. Our first date was the following evening, a Wednesday on the 23rd of May 1951 at a cozy little Restaurant called "The Spot" on Lake Pokegama Narrows, Chetek, WI. After dining we walked and talked by the lake. That was the beginning of our lifetime together.

Following my discharge from the Army, we were married a year later at Bloomington, Illinois on Saturday the 16th day of August 1952, Next Tuesday is our 59th marriage anniversary. You have been God’s greatest gift to me and our family. You have blessed my life in so many ways. You were like the sun around which my world revolved. You gave me an unconditional love, and a lifetime without regrets. You truly made my life an adventure.

It will be 2 years, 9 months and 24 days since God took you home on Thursday October 23rd 2008. For almost 12 years you waged a long and a weary battle with Alzheimer's. Slowly I lost you, tear drop by tear drop. As you lay exhausted and vanquished, God ended your suffering and his angels carried you to that land beyond the sunset where there is no Alzheimer's. God had given us a loving gift of 56 years together!

You told me once that if you remained after I passed on, you would not remarry. Well neither will I. Remember June, when I would tell you how long I would love you.- nothing has changed –

 ---

“I will love you until the sands of time cease their endless trickle”.

 ---

You are the first thing on my mind every morning and the last thing every night. You will always remain the love and light of my life. Now while I have our precious memories, there still remains the bitter and never ending sorrow of your loss. The dusk of each day brings a renewed tide of sadness with each wave of your precious memories.

There is a beautiful old Gospel song of the same name that Will better tell our story:

---

"PRECIOUS MEMORIES"

---

Precious Memories, unseen angels -

Sent from somewhere to my soul.

How they linger, ever near me -

As their sacred scenes unfold.

In the stillness of the midnight –

As they fly across the lonely years.

Alone I travel down life's pathways -

I know not what my time may hold.

Precious memories, how they linger

As the memories flood my soul -

And their sacred scenes unfold.

---

This beautiful old gospel song will be one of the several of our favorite songs that will be played and sung Tuesday at the Benedictine Health Care Center of Innsbruck. It is your sponsored quarterly love gift of a music concert to the residents of the nursing home where you spent your last days as a resident victim of Alzheimer’s. Through you it is a reflection of God’s love. The concert will be played by the group named in your honor:    “June’s Benedictine Blue Grass Five.”

Happy anniversary sweetheart – I’ll Love You forever!.
