June'll be Home for Christmas

"JUNE'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS"

---

This 1943 classic Christmas song by Gannon, Kent and Ram, “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” was written for World War II Servicemen…I revised it for June and Stan…

In 1943 when this song was created, the US was midway into World War II and June and I were both sophomores in high school…the war ended early in our Senior years in High School…We graduated early in 1946 and the war had just ended late in 1945…June was in Colfax,  Wisconsin high school and I was in Rice Lake, Wisconsin High school…one county apart...both living on farms...early 1949 would see me in the Army on the eve of the Korean War...my Army service ended in 1952, the year June and I were married…

I revised this beautiful Christmas song to relate to June who is now in Heaven and to me alone here on earth and still living in our home at 6025 Garden Lane…and another Christmas where June will be with me but only in my dreams...perhaps both nocturnal and day dreams…Christmas 2019 will be our 12th Christmas apart...

June'll be home for Christmas

You can plan on her

We’ll have snow and mistletoe

And presents on the tree

---
Christmas Eve will find me

Where the love light gleams

June’ll be home for Christmas

If only in my dreams

---

June’'ll be home for Christmas

You can plan on her

We’ll have snow and mistletoe

And presents on the tree

---

Christmas Eve will find me

Where the love light gleams

June’'ll be home for Christmas

If only in my dreams

If only in my dreams

June's Passing

June 1994

After an almost 12 year journey into the shadows of Alzheimer's, early one morning in late October 2008, an exhausted June felt God's gentle touch on her shoulder and heard the words: "Come Home June!" As June lay like a wounded soldier on a battlefield, it was God's Angels that ushered June into a Heavenly Kingdom to the sound of a chorus of Angels...and into June's new home, a "Mansion on the Hilltop", where there is no pain, nor illness nor tears...June's funeral notice as published in the Minneapolis Star in October 2008 can be seen on this website in the drop down menu under the "In Memoriam" label - just Click on:
