CHRISTIANS NEED TO START ACTING LIKE CHRISTIANS

---

Bible

(The Holy Bible)

---

We live in a world where Christians of both political party's spend much of their time and energy maligning, downgrading, degrading and spreading hatred against the opposing members of the political party's.

Christians need to stop making malevolent, slanderous, harmful and defamatory statements about other political figures.

Such actions fly in the face of every thing that our Christian God stands for and everything our Christian God hates.

The Christian World According to June

If the world was more like June, things would run much smoother with politician's acting civil and friendly to one another and accomplishing far more then with the present "at each other's throat" syndrome in an atmosphere of hate, malice and distrust. While June never discussed her politics with others, she did openly display her dedication to her religion...she always displayed her usual big smile and was at all times friendly to every one. She did display an obvious liking for President Reagan...(Reagan was also an Alzheimer's Victim) I remember when he died (5 June 2004) June saved the newspaper clippings, although at the time June herself was deep into Alzheimer's (7th Year)..President Reagan was much like June with a big smile and a friendly approach to all and insulting to no one.

According to Pew research, all members of Congress claim to be religious with the vast majority of them Christian...so as I have already indicated: "CHRISTIANS NEED TO START ACTING LIKE CHRISTIANS".

God's Expectations of a Christian

The book of Corinthians tells us what kind of a life God wants us to live…it is a life of Love…this type of love could only be described as a life of unconditional love for all mankind…a life that is difficult to measure up to, but a wonderful type of life for all to strive to achieve...

---

Love

---

1 Corinthians 13: 1-13 tells us:

“1. If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

2. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mystery's and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

3. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

5. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

6. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

7. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will fail, where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.”

9. For we know in part and we prophesy in part,

10.  but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.

11.  When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.

12.  For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13.  And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."

This Bible Verse Clearly Indicates What God Expects of Us

Matthew 5:14-16

14 You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

What does  God  Hate?

---

Proverbs

Proverbs 6:16 - 19 is also very clear that there are Seven things that the Lord God Hates:

---

16  There are six things that the Lord hates,

seven that are an abomination to him:

17  haughty eyes, a lying tongue,

and hands that shed innocent blood,

18 a heart that devises wicked plans,

feet that make haste to run to evil,

19 a false witness who breathes out lies,

and one who sows discord among his brethren.

---

Note: The last item that God hates (6:19) is the very point of this discussion..Christians need to Start Acting Like Christians and need to stop spending their time and energy maligning, downgrading, degrading and spreading hatred against the opposing members of the political party's...Christians need to stop making malevolent, slanderous, harmful and defamatory statements about other political figures.

Do we have examples of Christians Who Act Like Christians?

---

Among our past presidents I know of only one who would qualify...President Ronald Reagan would clearly qualify...His daughter Patti Davis described her father:

---

"He did have something special with God; he talked to God all the time...He just had conversations with God"

---

Patti also commented that she: " had never heard her father ever put down or bad mouth anyone including his political opponents."

President Reagan is clearly and example of a "Christian Acting Like a Christian". I know of NO other political examples.

 Reader's Comments

Sherrie Penner Terning  - Cokato. Minnesota - (18 February 2017): "It's so true! I wish all the lying, slandering, etc would stop. Maybe by putting this out there, Stan, you will make a few people change their thoughts and actions. And a few are better than none!"

John Stevens - Twin Falls, Idaho - (20 February 2017):"Looks well written and to the point. Is there a limit on the amount of abuse a Christian must take before he can defend himself?I think of Jesus driving the money changers out of the temple."

Marsha McKneely Ault - Nacogdoches, Texas - (20 February 2017): "If we who declare ourselves to be disciples of Christ could only live the golden rule--to treat one another as we want to be treated--the world would be a much better place.  There is so much bigotry and contention that I leave the news turned off most days now.  I respected President George W. Bush when he shared that he often went to his knees.  I love now that he is no longer in office spends a lot of time with the veterans he sent off to battle as president.  Yes Stanton. . .I agree. . .it is time for Christians to be real disciples of Christ."

Dianne Cogar- Springfield, Ohio - (20 February 2017): "Stanton, you are so absolutely right my friend..." Christians need to start acting more like Christians! " I can remember a time in my life when I believed wholeheartedly that those who professed their belief in Christ (to me personally) openly and without hesitation where just that "true Christians." But, unfortunately, in my experience of working with, and for some of these seemingly righteous people in my business, the truth would eventually surface through bigotry, greed, and jealously. Based on these many personal and disheartening experiences n my life, I have lost faith in people (like this.) These days it takes an immense about of convincing me that they are, in fact, true Christians. I do not judge people, I simply set back and watch as they, sooner or later, expose their persona from the inside out...some are convincing and true to heart and others not so. But, I have been marked, therefore, I still remain a pessimist. The one thing that I do cling on to is that fact that I feel deeply that Billy Graham was what he demonstrated in life to be...a true Christian. He is the ( only one ) that has truly helped me keep the faith. And it starts right here inside my own heart, not in that of others. And how I treat people is very important to me. I am a perfect example of the damage that some professed Christians can do to those of us who want to believe there are good people around us. Those who fake it , dear man, are the very people who carry the devils seed as they continue to demonstrate (the devils power) in those who think ( or want us to think ) they are at one with God. I love the message you are sending..."

June's Passing

June 1994

After an almost 12 year journey into the shadows of Alzheimer's, early one morning in late October 2008, an exhausted June felt God's gentle touch on her shoulder and heard the words: "Come Home June!" As June lay like a wounded soldier on a battlefield, it was God's Angels that ushered June into a Heavenly Kingdom to the sound of a chorus of Angels...and into June's new home, a "Mansion on the Hilltop", where there is no pain, nor illness nor tears...June's funeral notice as published in the Minneapolis Star in October 2008 can be seen on this website in the drop down menu under the "In Memoriam" label - just Click on:
